8 Beaches in Skiathos Worth Reaching by Boat

Some of these you can drive to. The best ones, you can't.

Skiathos claims over 60 beaches, and after ten-plus years taking people around them, we've got opinions about which ones actually deserve a stop on your route. This isn't every beach on the island — it's the ones we keep coming back to, in roughly the order we'd visit them on a full-day self-drive route.

1

Lalaria

No road goes anywhere near it, which is precisely why it still looks the way it does — white pebbles, sheer cliffs, water that genuinely looks photoshopped. Go before 11am if you want it to yourselves; the day-trip boats from Skiathos Town arrive mid-morning.

2

Koukounaries

Regularly named one of the best beaches in Greece, and it earns it — a long curve of soft sand backed by pine forest. It gets busy by road, so arriving by boat means you can anchor along the quieter end of the bay instead of fighting for a sunbed.

3

Mandraki

On the northern coast, wide and sandy with a proper laid-back feel. We usually build this into a full-day route as the lunch stop — there’s enough space to spread out even when a few boats have anchored up.

4

Elia

Calm, clear water in a bay that’s sheltered enough to anchor comfortably even when it’s breezier elsewhere on the island. A good pick if the group wants a few hours of doing absolutely nothing.

5

Vromolimnos

The water here is the kind of blue that makes people stop mid-sentence. It sits on the southern coastline, so it fits naturally into a route that also takes in Koukounaries and Elia.

6

Krifi Ammos

The name translates to "hidden sand," and it’s not exaggerating — this small cove is genuinely difficult to get to on foot, which keeps it quiet even in August.

7

Aselinos

Undeveloped and unfussy, on the north coast away from the main resort strip. If your group wants a beach without a beach bar attached to it, this is usually the one.

8

Tzeremes

A tight, sheltered cove that most visitors never find simply because there’s no obvious way to reach it except by water. Worth the detour if you’re already exploring the coastline nearby.

Planning your own beach-hopping route

With your own boat for the day, you're not tied to a fixed itinerary — you can plan a route around the beaches that interest you most, stop for as long as you like, and change plans on the water if you find somewhere you want to linger. Our team knows the island well and is always happy to suggest a route based on the weather, your group and how much time you have.
