Most of our fleet is built for comfort and ease rather than speed. If that's not what you're after — you've got a licence, you want to cover ground, you like the idea of the boat actually feeling fast — you want speed boat hire in Skiathos, and specifically, you want our RIB.
What makes the RIB Boat different
The RIB Boat runs a 90HP engine on a rigid inflatable hull, which is three times the power of anything else in our fleet. In practical terms, that means you can get around to the far side of the island, spend real time there, and still be back for a late lunch. Sea conditions in the Aegean tend to build through the afternoon, so an early start on the RIB is genuinely the best way to beat the wind and reach the quieter, further-out coves before anyone else does.
Yes, you need a licence for this one
Greek law draws the line at 30HP — anything above that requires a valid boating licence, and the RIB is the only boat in our fleet that crosses it. It's a firm rule, not something we can work around on the day. If you don't hold a licence, tell us when you enquire and we'll point you toward whichever of our other boats suits your group best.
What you get with it
Life jackets, full safety kit, a Bimini for shade, and the same island map and pre-departure briefing every hire gets from Agia Paraskevi Beach. Fuel runs higher than on our smaller boats given the engine size, so ask us for a route-based estimate before you head out — it varies a fair bit depending on how far you plan to go.
Not sure it's the right call?
A faster boat isn't automatically the better choice — with young kids aboard, or if it's your first time on the water at all, one of our no-licence boats like the Poseidon Blue Water 185 will get you to just as many beautiful beaches at a pace that's easier to relax into. Compare engine sizes and capacity across the whole fleet on the boats page, or start with our general boat hire guide if you're weighing up the options.
